1. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

One of the best places to go hiking in Texas Hill Country is at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Named for the huge piece of pink granite that towers over the area, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is one of the best places to watch a sunrise or sunset here in the area. When you visit Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, you will be able to embark on a 4-mile roundtrip hike that brings you to the summit of the rock itself, offering great views of the surrounding area. With panoramic views of hills and natural beauty as far as the eye can see, this is certainly among the best places to go hiking in Texas Hill Country.

2. Guadalupe River State Park

Another of the top spots to go hiking in Texas Hill Country is Guadalupe River State Park, where you can check out one of several trails. You can opt for the shorter Bald Cypress Trail that is only 1.6 miles total, or challenge yourself with a longer hike, such as the Guadalupe River State Park Loop: Bauer Unit, which spans 7.5 miles in all. 3. Pedernales Falls State Park

You can access the waterfall itself by taking a 7.8-mile roundtrip hike that brings you past native plant life, interesting geological formations, wildlife, and more. You can also get there using the shorter 2.2-mile path along Park Road 6026.

4. Old Tunnel State Park

Old Tunnel State Park can be an excellent option for hiking in Texas Hill Country for those looking for a brief, but exciting, excursion. The trail at Old Tunnel State Park is only 0.7 miles, which makes it a great choice for families with young children or older adults. Keep in mind that there is a short staircase along the trail. Plus, if you choose to visit around sunset during the summer months, you can see the incredible spectacle of over 2 million bats leaving the tunnel for the night sky each evening!
